Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane believes Celtic’s Moussa Dembele is showing the same potential as three-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo.
The French wonderkid has scored 14 goals in 15 starts for Celtic this season after moving north from Championship outfit Fulham in the summer.
In quotes published by the Daily Record, Zidane revealed that Dembele is already matching the feats of a young Ronaldo, as well as Thierry Henry and Raul but warned the 20-year-old that he must not leave Celtic just yet.
“He isn’t just scoring goals, he is scoring big goals, like the one against Rangers,” Zidane told the Daily Record. “That to me is always the sign of a great player.
“I have played with the greatest strikers, Ronaldo, Henry, Raul, and you knew on the biggest occasions they would win you games – and Dembele is already showing that.
“I know his time will come but he needs to make good decisions – and his next at least one or two seasons should be with Celtic.”
Dembele scored the winner in Sunday’s Betfred Cup semi final against Old Firm rivals Rangers in the dying embers of the match, as Leigh Griffiths squared for Celtic’s number 10 to finish skillfully past Matt Gilks.
The France Under-21’s international looks certain to go on and dominate Europe’s elite, but is contracted with the 47-time Scottish champions until 2020.
Dembele is expected to continue leading Brendan Rodgers’ attack against Ross County on Wednesday night, as the Hoops look to go seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
