European giants Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund are set to test Celtic’s resolve with concrete summer moves for star striker Moussa Dembele, according to a report.
The Daily Record has claimed that the Bundesliga club and Premier League champions will try to tempt Celtic into selling the 20-year-old forward this summer.
It is detailed that Dortmund are set to have over £60million to spend in the transfer market from the imminent sale of European goal machine Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Additionally, Swiss manager Lucien Favre is set to take over Dortmund from Thomas Tuchel and it is detailed that the Nice manager had eyed a move to take Dembele back to France last summer before Celtic snapped him up.
Meanwhile, Chelsea, who were linked heavily with a move in January are also expected to make a move for the Hoops ace if Michy Batshuayi leaves the club.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is however insistent that his side will turn down any offers for his star players as plans to progress in Europe next season.
Dembele returned a stunning 32 goals and nine assists in 49 appearances in all competitions after moving to Scotland from Fulham last summer and he is still contracted to the club until 2020.
Football Insider verdict:
Dembele is a must keep for Celtic this summer, quite simply. The young forward has proven that he has what it takes to make himself a world star and he will only get better in the next few years. The Frenchman’s price-tag could even rise in the next few years and therefore the Hoops should avoid any deal this summer. If Rodgers is serious about making progress in the Champions League next season then Celtic need to keep Dembele and add to him.
