Everton could re-sign revitalised Barkley after source reveals January transfer plan - Whelan
Ross Barkley would be a “good signing” for cash-strapped Everton in January, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 27-year-old has “his mojo back” at Chelsea following a “disappointing” Aston Villa loan last term.
Barkley could be on the move in the winter window after being on the fringes for much of Thomas Tuchel’s reign and Teamtalk report Everton, Leeds and Newcastle are in the hunt to sign him.
A Goodison source has told Football Insider today that the club are investigating multiple potential loan-to-buy deals.
As quoted by the Guardian on November 5th, this comes as no surprise to Rafa Benitez who conceded Everton will not have “too much” money to spend in January.
Whelan insisted the Toffees academy product could return to form with regular game-time at Goodison Park.

“I think that would be a good signing and I can see it happening,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“We’re seeing a different Ross Barkley right now to the one we saw at Aston Villa last season – he’s got his mojo back.
“He’s got that hunger; he wants to impress when he comes off the bench at Chelsea – he’s pressing and hustling the opposition really well.
“He’s also capable of getting into that final third and causing teams problems in there, as well.
“I was disappointed with his performances at Aston Villa, he had a real opportunity to make the grade there and step into that Grealish-shaped hole this season.
“He’s not hit the heights of his potential, but he could get back to his best back at Everton.”
