Everton deal for Jack Grealish looks dead in water as Enzo Maresca plans Man City talks

Everton may fail to re-sign Jack Grealish from Manchester City in the upcoming transfer window.

According to the Mirror on 26 May, Enzo Maresca, who is expected to replace Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium, believes the England international can play a part in his plans next season.

The news outlet reports that while the 30-year-old decided he wanted to make his move to Hill Dickinson Stadium permanent, a shock U-turn could be on the cards.

It has been claimed that the former Chelsea boss is planning to hold talks with the winger about possibly reviving his career in M11.

Grealish has enjoyed his time under David Moyes, but it remains to be seen whether he will be enticed by the prospect of seeing out the remainder of his contract with the Sky Blues.

Everton now have excuse to avoid Jack Grealish deal

It’s clear that the Toffees’ supporters would love to see Grealish back in Merseyside, but The Friedkin Group may be secretly happy about the latest developments.

John Stones’ potential move to Hill Dickinson Stadium may hinder any approach for the on-loan forward, with former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson telling Football Insider at the start of May that the Blues may have the finances to sign one of them.

It’s clear that finances in L3 are tight at the moment, but the American owners will surely have to make a significant financial commitment to get a deal over the line for Grealish.

If Maresca is planning on using the Englishman at the Etihad Stadium, then the Merseyside outfit’s idea to re-sign him may already be dead in the water.

David Moyes to reconsider future at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Moyes’ current contract at Everton expires in 2027 and it remains to be seen whether he will sign a new deal anytime soon.

TFG have been reluctant to adequately back the Scottish manager in recent transfer windows and a failure to bring Grealish back would only make the veteran head coach even more frustrated.

After a disappointing end to the season, some fans in L3 are calling for Moyes to be replaced by someone with a more modern style of play.

The 63-year-old head coach has brought stability back to the Merseysiders, but certainly needs more help from the owners to make further progress.
