Pundit salutes 'unbelievable' Benitez as Longstaff among four players wanted by Everton reportedly
Sean Longstaff may not be a marquee signing for Everton – but he would still be an excellent capture for Rafael Benitez.
So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 23-year-old Newcastle United midfielder.
The Liverpool Echo reported on 10 August that Rafael Benitez is eyeing three or four more signings before the close of the window.
Among them is Longstaff, who is under contract at St. James’ Park until next summer.
He and new Toffees boss Benitez worked together during the manager’s three-year stint at Newcastle.
Kenny claims that the fact that the Spaniard has reportedly given his seal of approval to Longstaff is proof of his credentials.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “He’s definitely a really good player and I’m sure he’d do well there.
“He and his brother, Matty, broke into that team early and he is still quite young. There have been other big teams interested in him in the past as well.
“Benitez is an unbelievable manager, so if he’s interested in you then you know you’re a good player.
“He might not be the biggest marquee signing ever but he could definitely do a good job there if they do manage to get this one done.“
Longstaff featured 22 times in the Premier League last season and registered one assist.
Everton have already added Andros Townsend, Asmir Begovic and Demarai Gray this summer.
