Whelan backs Aston Villa selling sell Nakamba to Everton for 'brilliant' price
Noel Whelan has insisted selling Marvelous Nakamba for a profit this summer would be “brilliant business” for Aston Villa.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker suggested the Villans already have an “abundance of midfield” players.
As reported by the Telegraph (August 11th), Everton and Watford are considering a move for Nakamba before the window shuts.
It is said Villa would stand to make a profit from the £11million paid to Club Brugge in 2019.
Nakamba played a squad role for Dean Smith last season, with just nine league starts to his name.
As such, Whelan suggested it would be smart business to make some money off his sale.

“I don’t think they’re struggling for money after the sale of Jack Grealish,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“We know they’ve spent a lot of money as well on players. If they can recoup as much as they can for players who are not going to be used in the Premier League squad…
“They have an abundance of midfield players now, quality midfield players.
“I think if they can recoup some of that money that they paid, that’s brilliant business again for Aston Villa.”
Nakamba has played 50 times across all competitions since joining Villa.
He made 16 appearances across all competitions last season, 13 in the Premier League.
Villa also have John McGinn, Morgan Sanson, Douglas Luiz, Conor Hourihane and Jacob Ramsey as central midfield options.
The midlands giants have signed Leon Bailey, Emi Buendia, Ashley Young, Danny Ings and Axel Tuanzebe this summer.
