Everton fans were left fuming as Brentford left The Hill Dickinson Stadium with a 4-2 victory in the Premier League.

The Toffees have been on a stuttering run of form recently, but they would have hoped to have built on their 2-0 victory at Nottingham Forest.

Igor Thiago netted a hat-trick for Brentford, which proved the difference between the two sides, with goals for Beto and Thierno Barry mere consolations.

David Moyes's side sit 12th in the Premier League table, and Everton may have to be restrained in the January transfer window due to previous financial issues.

Tyler Dibling 'awful' in Brentford defeat

Due to injuries and the African Cup of Nations, Moyes has been left with a thin squad over the festive period.

Tyler Dibling, who joined Everton from Southampton last summer, was handed just his fourth Premier League start for the club against Brentford.

The 19-year-old joined Everton with plenty of promise, but supporters have yet to be convinced by what they have seen from the winger so far.

Moyes was also criticised for his team selection and tactics, with Dibling substituted at half-time, and centre-back Jake O'Brien had to fill in at right-back.

Everton are targeting right-back Jayden Bogle in January to fix their issues in the position, which could benefit players like Dibling.
