'Not even a Championship player' - Everton fans destroy midfielder after win v Sunderland
By Danny Wright
Everton fans have torn into midfielder Muhamed Besic for his display in Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over Sunderland in the Carabao Cup at Goodison Park.
Although the Toffees ensured their name would be in the draw for the fourth round of the competition, Besic, 25, had fans angered at his display in the centre of Ronald Koeman’s formation, with some accusing him of being nowhere near the standard required on Merseyside.
Goals in each half from Dominic Calvert-Lewin before Oumas Niasse rounded off proceedings gave Koeman and his men a relatively easy win over the Black Cats, who have been struggling to find form since dropping down to the Championship and undergoing a change of manager.
Bosnia international Besic is a player who understands what it’s like to see a change of manager at the helm having been brought in by Roberto Martinez in 2014 and kept his spot in the squad when Koeman took charge despite spending a long time on the sidelines.
Although he had a long-term injury and missed the entirety of last season, Toffees fans have not been so forgiving and have absolutely ripped apart the midfield enforcer on Twitter for his performance on Wednesday.

Listening to the commentary and what I'm hearing does nothing to change my mind that Besic is a complete liability #EFC

Besic playing poorly? Sunderland will definitely be interested then. They like them injury prone.

Besic thinks he's Pirlo. He's actually Lee Cattermole.
