Everton fans have taken to Twitter to rage about Sammy Lee's impeding appointment as assistant manager.

Sky Sports has reported that the 58-year-old will arrive at Goodison Park as the new number two to Sam Allardyce, who is expected to be announced as the new Everton manager on Wednesday night ahead of the Premier League clash against West Ham.

It is understood that Lee and former Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare are closing in on deals to become a part of the backroom set-up at the Merseyside club, over five weeks after Ronald Koeman was sacked from his role as manager.

Lee is a supporter of Everton's bitter local rivals Liverpool and, as well as being a player for the Reds, he was once a part of the coaching staff at Anfield, arriving there in 2008 to serve as assistant manager to Rafa Benitez.

That link to the other side of Stanley Park has seen the Goodison faithful show their anger on Twitter, with one fan saying that majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is a "fraud".

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Everton were understood to have re-opened talks with Allardyce earlier this week following the 4-1 defeat to Southampton on Sunday.

The Goodison club has now confirmed on their official Twitter account that the ex-England boss is on the verge of being appointed as manager but David Unsworth will remain in charge against the Hammers on Wednesday.
