Paul Robinson has claimed Everton were lucky not to concede a penalty when Idrissa Gana Gueye brought down Willian.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one believes Frank Lampard's side deserved their fortune because of Jordan Pickford's "outstanding" performance.

The Toffees shared a goalless draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday (29 October).

As pictured by Sky Sports (29 October), the hosts appealed for a penalty when Willian went to ground under the challenge of Gueye at the beginning of the second half.

Referee John Brooks did not adjudge the challenge as worthy of a penalty and VAR official Darren England did not deem his colleague to have made a clear and obvious error.

When asked by Football Insider if Gueye should have been penalised for the challenge, Robinson said: "Fulham were unlucky because that was a penalty.

"Gueye tripped him so it should have been given really.

"But in all honesty, it was a very average game though and it deserved to be 0-0.

"Pickford was outstanding and he deserved a clean sheet and a point. It would have been very harsh if he had been on the losing side."

The Toffees moved up to 12th in the Premier League table with the point on Saturday.

The Merseyside club welcome Leicester City to Goodison Park this Saturday (5 November).
