Everton will hold talks with Paris Saint-Germain within the next few days over a stunning swoop for striker Edinson Cavani, according to a report.
Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb claims that the Toffees are “serious” in their pursuit of Cavani, 30, after missing out on the chance to sign Diego Costa from Chelsea in the summer as he opted to make a move to Atletico Madrid.
It is understood that Everton are now going to meet with the PSG officials to discuss the feasibility of a move for the Uruguay international after he had an on-pitch fall-out with Neymar last week.
It was claimed that there will be many hurdles for Everton to overcome should they want to sign the PSG powerhouse, one of which being his £120,000-a-week pay packet that he picks up after taxes.
Football Insider Verdict
Cavani is a Champions League striker who should be at title contending sides. Everton are a Europa League club that are yet to prove if they’ve made any progress over the summer. There is no way Cavani would want to sign for them, even if he is unhappy at PSG. The forward will not be short of suitors should be really want to leave the French giants and the Daily Mail previously reported that Juventus was among the elite sides interested in him at this stage. Everton need to have more patience with Sandro Ramirez before attempting talks like this. The news will do no good for the Spaniard’s confidence after a poor start to life on Merseyside.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have also made an approach for this international forward.
