Everton have set their sights on three Tottenham stars ahead of the January window, Football Insider has learned.
The Merseysiders are expected to be active in the new year even though their budget is restricted after more heavy spending in the last window.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that the club are preparing to keep close tabs on demoted Spurs trio Dele Alli, Harry Winks and Paulo Gazzaniga.
All three have lost their places in Jose Mourinho’s transformed team that sit top of the Premier League after nearly a quarter of the campaign.
Everton are set to concentrate on the loan market, and cheap deals, in the January window.
Alli and Winks (both 24) could fit into the former category, while Gazzaniga, 28, may be available for a permanent sale after falling to third-choice goalkeeper following the summer arrival of Joe Hart.
Mourinho is building his midfield around another headline summer capture, Pierre-Emile Hjojberg, club-record capture Tanguy Ndombele and Moussa Sissoko, with Giovani Lo Celso as first choice back-up.
That has seen England international pair Winks and Alli fall down the pecking order this season.
Winks started 26 Premier League matches last term but has had just 17 minutes in the last six matches in the competition and has been used mainly in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Alli’s demotion is even more stark and he has failed to even make the matchday 18 for Spurs’ last five Premier League games and even struggling for game time in the Europa League.
It remains to be seen if Spurs would loan a high-profile player to a potential top-four rival and whether they consider Everton to be that.
The Toffees are set to be in the market for a goalkeeper in January after failing to sign Sergio Romero from Man United in the summer.
