Sources: Everton braced for manager change amid new Frank Lampard twist
Everton are braced for England interest in Frank Lampard as they face the prospect of another potential manager change, sources have told Football Insider.
It is understood that Gareth Southgate will spend the next few weeks deliberating over whether to stay on with England following their World Cup exit.
He is set to hold talks with FA chief executive Mark Bullingham and technical director John McDermott, who are both keen for him to stay on.
Football Insider has learned that Everton boss Lampard will be a contender for the England job should it become vacant early in the new year.
McDermott is believed to be an admirer of the Chelsea legend and is confident he has the profile that could fit the national team.
The 44-year-old has been under pressure at Goodison Park following a difficult start to the season.

But, as revealed by Football Insider on 15 November, Everton chiefs have decided to stand by Lampard and give him time to turn their season around when the campaign resumes.
His position was under growing scrutiny going into the mid-season break following a poor run of form which has left Everton just one point above the relegation zone.
The Merseysiders have lost seven of their 15 Premier League outings this term – including three defeats in their last five games.
Lampard joined Everton in January this year and managed to avert relegation in the final weeks of the season.
The former Chelsea and England midfielder led his side to 10 points from a possible 15 in their last five games of the 2021-22 campaign to avoid the drop.
