Sam Allardyce needs to do something big to get the Everton fans on side and he can show his ambition this summer by making a bid for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
But with so much talent already in the centre of the park, it’s difficult to see where the ace will fit into the Blues line-up.
This is where the Toffees can step in.
Snapping up Ramsey would signal where they are heading.
In terms of wages, under Farhad Moshiri, the Blues can likely match Arsenal, Tottenham, and Liverpool.
It would also give the Arsenal star a chance to link back up with Theo Walcott who arrived at Goodison Park in the January transfer window and reestablish an understanding that could wreak havoc on Premier League defences.
As things stand, Moshiri has already pumped more than £200million into the Blues transfer policy and is yet to see any improvement despite the massive outlay.
An ambitious owner, he will want to see more bang for his buck and he will know it’s quality that is needed on Merseyside rather than quantity, and the Gunners star fits the bill.
