Everton have offered Fabian Delph a pay hike as they put the finishing touches to signing him from Manchester City this summer, Football Insider has learned.

The Merseysiders have agreed a fee of £8.5million rising to a potential £10million with City for the England international, who has a year remaining on his contract.

An Everton source has told Football Insider the club are confident of landing Delph after he was omitted from the City squad that flew to China yesterday fo the first leg of their Asia pre-season tour.

Talks over a deal are at an advanced stage as Everton close in on their second midfield signing of the summer after converting Andre Gomes' 2018-19 loan into a permanent transfer last month.

Delph is set to net a deal worth more than £100,000-a-week at Goodison Park after being offered a rise on his current £90,000-a-week City deal.

Manager Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands are convinced he can be a key player for the club and are united that he will have a big role to play.

Delph has been a key squad player at City since signing from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015, but he has rarely been a regular starter despite accumulating 89 appearances in four seasons.

His chances of regular football at the Premier League champions have further decreased with the arrival of £60million club-record signing Rodri from Atletico Madrid.

In the latest Everton news, Danny Mills has tipped the Merseysiders to sign an 'Absolute menace' who would be a "Fabulous signing".
