Everton have been offered the chance to sign Leeds United-linked striker Jean-Kevin Augustin this month, Football Insider has learned.
The Merseysiders are in the market for attacking talent before the window shuts on Friday of next week and are working on multiple deals.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that the club have been offered Augustin, 22, via intermediaries but have rejected the chance to move for him.
That is a relief to Leeds, who are increasingly hopeful of making the on-loan RB Leipzig front man their marquee January signing.
United are trying to sign Augustin on loan with an obligation to become permanent in the summer.
As revealed by Football Insider, manager Marcelo Bielsa has made a personal intervention to try and persuade the France Under-21 cap to head to Elland Road for the second half of the season.
Everton were keen on Augustin this time last year but they are no longer pursuing him, while he has also attracted interest in the past from the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa.
His future is in doubt as he is midway through a season-long loan at Monaco and has struggled for game time.
Leipzig are open to the prospect of terminating the loan at the midway point and sending him to a club where he can play regularly.
He was a regular in his first two seasons at the Bundesliga leaders but they no longer see him as a key player.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club are listening to offers for mid-20s colossus as late-window exit nears.
