Everton set for 'wonderful January' after source's transfer update - pundit
Frank McAvennie claims Everton are set for a big January transfer window after their strong start to the season.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted as the Toffees drew at Old Trafford at the weekend.
The draw against Man United kept Rafael Benitez’s side fifth in the Premier League.
This site has been told by an Everton source (16 September) that Benitez is targeting a world-class centre-back signing in the January window.
The Blues only had a limited budget to work with in the summer due to financial fair play regulations.
After a summer of wheeling and dealing, McAvennie insists Farhad Moshiri will back his manager to the hilt in a bid to establish Everton and one of Engand’s best clubs.

“Well Rafa was never backed at Newcastle,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It’s going to be a wonderful January for Everton. We know they have the money.
“If they are still up there and challenging for Europe, Moshiri will back him to the hilt.
“We know he has the money to make things happen. I think it will be a busy January after a COVID summer.
“That quiet January myth is going to disappear because fans are back in, the landscape has changed.
“Everton would love to get back up there with the big boys. They have to buy to do that.“
The Blues face West Ham at Goodison Park after the international break.
The Hammers have also started the season in strong form and only have three fewer points than Everton.
