Everton to spend large chunk of £100m kitty on these three marquee signings - reports

By Alex Taylor

Everton are eyeing three major summer signings under new manager Ronald Koeman and billionaire owner Farhad Moshiri this summer, according to reports.

Ladbrokes Sport, citing the Liverpool Echo, claim Juan Mata, Yaya Toure and Kasper Schmeichel have all been targeted as the cash-rich Merseysiders aim to overhaul a squad that came under fire from pundits last season for a string of poor performances.

It is said that Koeman will spend a large portion of his £100million transfer kitty on three established Premier League stars. With Toure’s contract running into next year and Mata and Schmiechel contracted till 2018 – it could be expensive to prize them away from their respective clubs.

New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho sold Mata to United from Chelsea in 2014 and could well chose to do the same again this summer.

The Spanish midfielder scored 10 goals in United’s last league campaign under Louis Van Gaal as his side slumped to a fifth placed finish, missing out on Champions League football.

In a report from the Manchester Evening News Yaya Toure has also been deemed surplus to requirements and is not believed to be part of new manager Pep Guardiola’s plans at Manchester City so both moves could take place soon.

The future of this season’s Premier League champion Kasper Schmeichel is less clear but with the Toffees set to offer large transfer fees and big wages, Everton could be a new first choice destination for top-level players.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have had a £10.2million bid turned down for Lille star Djibril Sidibe
