Everton staff have been raving about the impact of new signing Allan behind the scenes, Football Insider understands.
The midfielder, 29, has made an instant impact for Carlo Ancelotti’s side since joining from Napoli last month for around £23million.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that Allan has blown the club’s coaches and players away in training and have been unsurprised by his outstanding start at Goodison.
The eight-times Brazil international started Everton’s first three Premier League matches of the season before sitting out the 4-2 win over Brighton due to injury.
Ancelotti’s side have won all four of the games in which he has played, which also includes the 4-1 League Cup demolition of West Ham.
The defensive midfielder has been the deepest lying of a three-man midfield that also includes Andre Gomes and fellow summer signing Abdoulaye Doucoure.
The likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Tom Davies and Fabian Delph have been pushed down the midfield pecking order by Allan and Doucoure.
Both cost over £20million, with Everton paying Napoli around £23m for Allan.
His impact has also caught the eye of former Leeds United and Coventry City striker Noel Whelan.
“I’ve been really impressed by Allan,” he told Football Insider. “Obviously, everyone’s talking about James Rodriguez and rightly so. He’s been sensational.
“But Allan has been incredible as well. You want your signings to instantly make the team better and he’s done that straight away.
“He’s looked really sharp, full of energy, won the ball and kept it well. Carlo Ancelotti knew what he was getting and how good he could be for Everton.”
Poveda has made substitute appearances in Leeds’ last two Premier League matches and has now played seven times for the club although he is still waiting for his first goal.
