Everton in battle to sign striker whose value has increased 40-fold in the last year - report
By Russell Edge
Everton are targeting £17million-rated Palermo striker Ilija Nestorovski as a summer signing, according to a report.
Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo claim that the Toffees are one of a number of clubs monitoring the Macedonian’s performances ahead of a possible summer move.
However they may face competition for his signing from clubs all over Europe, with the report suggesting that heavyweights such as Atletico Madrid are interested in the 27-year-old front man, who has impressed in his first season with Palermo.
In 33 games, the forward, who can also be deployed on the left wing, has scored ten goals and contributed three assists for a club fighting the threat of relegation from Serie A.
Were Everton to make a move for the 13-times Macedonia international, they could expect to pay between £13million to £17million for his services, with the club president confirming his expectations earlier this year.

The new valuation is 40 times more than what Palermo paid for him when they signed him from Inter Zapresic last summer.
Football Insider verdict:
In today’s modern transfer market, £13 to £17million does not get you that much. However, for a striker who has only played one season in a top European league, it is still a risk. Ten goals is not exactly setting the league alight, although Nestorovski’s record before joining Palermo is impressive, with 69 goals in 90 matches for Croatian side Inter Zapresic. It was this goal scoring prowess which saw Palermo take a chance on the forward, and he has almost demonstrated the ability to succeed at a higher level. At Everton, he would have much better players around him to create goal scoring chances, but also a much higher class of opposition. Can he make the step up?
