Rangers are braced for Everton to make a move for Alfredo Morelos as the likelihood grows he will push to quit Ibrox in the coming weeks.
Light Blues sources have told Football Insider that the club hierarchy recognise they face an uphill battle to keep hold of their prize asset as they set their sights on signing two new strikers.
Rangers are aware of interest in Morelos, 24, from Everton and other leading European clubs.
The Glasgow giants will sell their star striker if their asking price is met.
That was around the £20million mark earlier this year but the pandemic means it will have dropped significantly from that point.
News of the Merseyside club’s reignited interest in the Colombia international was revealed in the Italian media last week.
Football Insider has been told that Everton are very keen on Morelos and are planning to make a move when the transfer window opens.
That may not be until the end of July, which could prove chaotic for Rangers with their new Scottish season scheduled to start on 1 August with an away trip to Aberdeen.
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is an admirer of Morelos and believes him capable of making the step up from the SPL to the Premier League.
The striker has an outstanding scoring record at Rangers and was electrifying in the first half of last season before his form nosedived – along with that of his team – after the winter break.
Morelos has three years remaining on his contract with the club.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have agreed terms of new deal after West Ham offer rejected.
