Everton are eying a move for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney this summer, according to a report.
The Mirror claim via their live transfer blog (03:43) that Tierney has been identified as a long-term replacement for 33-year-old Leighton Baines.
The 21-year-old signed a new six-year deal at Celtic Park in October, but that has not dissuaded Everton from expressing an interest.
The report also claims there is interest from both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United for the left-back’s signature.
Football Insider verdict:
Kieran Tierney is one of the most exciting defensive talents in Europe. His form for Celtic since his breakthrough into the first-team has been sensational, it’s no surprise big clubs in England are looking at Tierney this window. It’s a certainty that Everton need to be planning ahead because Leighton Baines needs to be replaced sooner rather than later. However, Celtic will understandably rate the 21-year-old very highly and he would cost a huge amount of money if he was to leave Celtic Park, which puts the Toffees at a disadvantage if the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are interested, with those clubs both also looking for long-term solutions at left-back. The defender could be one of the best in the world in his position in a few years time, so if any club want to get the deal done, it has to be done now before he becomes unaffordable.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are interested in signing Croatia winger Ante Rebic.
