Kenny tells Everton to 'get him out ASAP' after Echo's Rodriguez reveal
Everton must bin James Rodriguez “as soon as possible” if he does not feature in Rafael Benitez’s plans.
That is according to ex-Premier League shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about a recent report in the Liverpool Echo.
The Liverpool-based outlet claimed on 1st August that Benitez has told the playmaker he is free to leave if a suitable offer is received this summer.
The 30-year-old Colombian’s contract expires next June and he has admitted he does not know where his future lies.
Kenny insists that the Toffees should be looking to free up Rodriguez’s “huge wages” at the nearest possible opportunity.
“They need to get him out the door as soon as possible,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“Obviously he’ll be on big wages so it might be a difficult one. But if he’s not in Benitez’s plans then there’s no point in having him sitting around.
“I’m sure the player won’t want to be there if he isn’t going to be playing. So it would suit everyone for him to move on.
“Like I said, he’s on huge wages so it could be difficult to get rid of him when he’s only been there 12 months.
“It’s a shame because I was looking forward to watching him in the Premier League, but things change.”
Rodriguez arrived at Goodison Park from Real Madrid last summer in a £12million deal.
He scored six goals and laid on nine assists across 26 appearances in 2020-21.
