Craig Bellamy has already outlined why Brennan Johnson is perfect for Everton

David Moyes' Everton are the latest to be linked with a move for Crystal Palace winger Brennan Johnson this summer.

The 25-year-old only signed across the dotted line at Selhurst Park last summer, joining the Eagles on a £35million deal from Tottenham Hotspur.

It was a club-record deal for the South London club, but 12 months later, and he has yet to hit the back of the net, and has just two assists.

Mick Brown told Football Insider in April that Palace were already considering cutting their losses with Johnson, but not everyone has lost hope.

Former Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers told fans that he "wouldn't rule out" a deal for the Wales international, or at least "someone similar".

The reaction to the link has not been massively positive from the Toffees fans, but Craig Bellamy's previous quotes on the forward should offer some hope of a resurgence.

At 25 years of age, Johnson already has 45 caps for the Wales national team, with many of them coming under Bellamy's leadership.

The Red Wall is often critical of his performances on the international stage, with the head coach sometimes having to hit back at them.

In 2024, Bellamy said: "He's a good footballer, he has ridiculous talent, his high-intensity is through the roof, it is elite. If I'm in a [club manager] job I'll go and buy him.

"He's got every part of football that's going to make him elite and that's the player I see."

That's some serious praise from an international manager, and David Moyes should like the sound of what the winger could bring to the team.

How would David Moyes line up with Brennan Johnson?

The Toffees have done very little business so far this summer, making Merlin Rohl's deal permanent before signing Hayden Hackney for £17m.

Jack Grealish is expected to join Everton, with his future lying away from Manchester City, but a potential transfer appears to have stalled.

In that case, if Moyes can keep Iliman Ndiaye, the attack would likely be the Senegalese international, joined by Beto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Johnson.

That would be a dangerous front four, especially with James Garner and Hackney behind them at the base of midfield, but any deal would likely be quite expensive.
