Alan Myers drops Brennan Johnson to Everton bombshell

Brennan Johnson could already be on the move from Crystal Palace, as Everton are named as a surprise contender.

The 25-year-old has only been at Selhurst Park for one season, where he notched no goals and two assists in 26 games after joining for £35million.

Johnson had fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur, despite a 22-goal-contribution campaign in 2024-25, and even a Europa League-winning strike.

It has likely been a frustrating few years for the Welshman, for club and country, as Craig Bellamy's national side missed out on the 2026 World Cup.

Now, the winger could be on the move within the Premier League once again, though it remains to be seen who would pay a similar fee for him.

Mick Brown told Football Insider in April that the Eagles would consider cutting their losses with the player, which might explain the interest from Merseyside.

Jack Grealish won the love of the fans very quickly during his loan spell, but there are no immediate signs that David Moyes will have him again next term.

And Iliman Ndiaye could be another figure who leaves the Hill Dickinson Stadium before 2026-27 kicks off. Palace's Johnson could be eyed as a replacement.

Taking to X (3 August), in a reply about winger targets, Alan Myers wrote: "I think we're looking at a few wingers. I wouldn't rule out Brennan Johnson or someone similar."

Given his association with Sky Sports, Myers is often a credible source for transfer links on Merseyside, but this deal would certainly split opinion.

Supporters have not taken well to the surprise news at all, with one stating that he has "stunk out the gaff" at Selhurst Park since his big-money move.

With the attacker yet to hit the back of the net, those carefully chosen words are difficult to disagree with, even if he is a talented player.

Johnson has also failed to win over the fans on the international stage, with his last actions in a competitive game being to miss a penalty in a World Cup play-off semi-final.
