David Moyes 'loves' Marcus Tavernier as Everton signing plan revealed

David Moyes is keen to bring Bournemouth star Marcus Tavernier to Everton in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

The Toffees made an enquiry about the 27-year-old's availability earlier this month, and while Bournemouth are reluctant to see him leave, there is a feeling a deal could be done.

Moyes is aiming to bolster his squad before the start of the new season, and sees the Bournemouth midfielder as a perfect fit for his plans.

Former West Ham scout Mick Brown, who worked closely alongside Moyes, told Football Insider that Tavernier would thrive at Everton and a deal could soon be agreed.

Having played a key role in Bournemouth qualifying for the Europa League last time out, the Cherries are keen to keep hold of him, but Everton now plan to test their resolve.

Tavenier's work rate, energy and ability to drive forward in posession would make him an important asset under Moyes amid concerns about their current options.

Could Everton make a move for Marcus Tavernier?

Former Everton scout Bryan King told Football Insider on 13 August that Tavernier would be a good signing for the Toffees and would provide a boost to their midfield.

Having already landed Brennan Johnson from Crystal Palace last week, the Toffees have set their sights on other targets, with Moyes leading the push for new signings.

The boss is expected to be instrumental in any deal for Tavernier, who ticks a number of boxes for what he is looking for, and the Toffees could look to agree a deal.

"Marcus Tavernier is a good player, and he would fit in well at Everton," Brown told Football Insider.

"He's exactly the type of player Moyesey loves, he works hard, can play in multiple positions, always makes himself available and he's good with the ball at his feet as well.

"He would bring a lot of energy to the midfield, and that's something Everton have been keen to bring in when you have a look at their squad.

"I liked him when he was at Middlesbrough and he had a number of suitors in the Premier League, and now he's gone from strength to strength since he joined Bournemouth.

"He's the type of player who you can rely on to give you a seven-out-of-ten performance every week, and that's the type of player Moyes likes.

"I'd be surprise if Bourenmouth were looking to sell him, but Everton could make an offer to test their resolve and see whether he might be availble for a reasonable fee.

"If there is a deal to be done, I'm sure Everton will be looking to do it, because they want to strengthen the squad and Tavernier would certainly do that."

How do Bournemouth feel about selling Tavernier?

Everton are not the only club to have been linked with a move for Tavernier this summer, with Man United also having been named as surprise suitors for him.

The midfielder is under contract at Bournemouth until 2029 and would likely cost a sizable figure after enjoying a superb campaign, but their resolve could be tested.

Football Insider revealed on 11 August that Bournemouth are doing everything in their power to keep Tavernier at the club and would be reluctant to see him move on.

The Cherries are determined to avoid a repeat of last summer, where multiple key players were lured away, ahead of their participation in the Europa League.

Following the appointment of Marco Rose, Bournemouth are hoping to be ambitious in the coming season, and part of those ambitions includes keepign their best players.
