David Moyes may only have Thierno Barry as his striker option at Everton, but it's a lot better than having Beto in the squad.

After several transfer windows of being linked with a return to Italy, the Toffees finally offloaded the centre-forward in a £17million deal.

Having signed him for over £25m back in 2023, the Premier League club took a big hit on the player, but it was worth it just to get him off the books.

In his final full season on Mersyside, Beto notched 10 goals for the second consecutive campaign, but he never really convinced the fans.

It looks like it's now Barry's time to shine, and with six goals in his opening eight games this term, he's taken the opportunity with a firm grip.

Still, supporters will be eager to know how Beto is getting on away from Everton, wanting to know whether the club made the right decision.

Beto replacement already needed at Fiorentina

Spoiler - Everton definitely made the right decision in getting rid of him.

Beto, 28, has yet to score his first goal in Fiorentina colours, registering just two shots on target in his opening five matches.

Only two of his four Serie A appearances have come from the start, and even then, he hasn't made it past 65 minutes yet.

Now, according to Quotidiano Sport (13 October), signing a new centre-forward has already become a priority for manager Paolo Vanoli.

The player's latest display against Genoa has confirmed the club's worst fears, with the quest to sign Beto's replacement already underway.

Everton's striker situation remains unsolved

While Barry has had a sensational start to the campaign, it would be unfair to expect him to play every game, even as the Toffees' only striker.

Football Insider understands that Bayer Leverkusen's Christian Kofane is already being eyed, with three goals in six games so far this season.

Folarin Balogun remains a target for the Toffees, but any chance of signing the USA international has reduced after his failed move in the summer.

It is clear that Moyes needs another striker, preferably an experienced one, but the owners are not in a position to invest heavily in January.
