Zian Flemming's statistics from last season compared to Everton's existing strikers prove why they must accelerate talks over a move with Burnley.

Everton have a lot of work to do before the summer transfer window closes as several new signings are lined up.

David Moyes has identified a new striker arrival as a priority, alongside a right-back, before the 3rd September deadline passes.

Flemming is the latest target to emerge onto the radar of the Toffees after his impressive individual season for Burnley.

The Dutch striker bagged 11 goals in his maiden Premier League campaign, and rumours around an exit have persisted after their relegation to the second tier.

He started the new season in fine form against West Ham, and the stats show that he would clearly be a better option for Everton than Beto and Thierno Barry.

Zian Flemming outperformed Beto and Thierno Barry in the PL last season

Flemming was the standout in a tough campaign for those at Turf Moor, as he won the club's Player of the Year award in May.

He has already shone in the Championship for the Clarets and Millwall, and at 28-years-old, it seems obvious that he will push to return to the Premier League in the coming weeks.

Flemming is a typical Moyes striker, in that he is over six feet tall and counts on his physicality to outbattle defenders while leading the line.

He scored more league goals (11) at a better per-90-minute rate than Beto (9) and Barry (8) last season, with 0.56 in a lesser team to their respective 0.52 and 0.38.

Flemming was also a more clinical finisher than either Toffees striker, as he outperformed his expected goals by 3.13 to their 0.09 (Beto) and -0.15 (Barry).

His 55 per cent shot accuracy was better than their respective 53 per cent and 37 per cent, but both Everton players did create more chances than him, with 12 each to his 10.

The Burnley man completed more of his dribbles (36.4 per cent) than either Beto (34.1 per cent) or Barry (30 per cent), while also winning more ground duels per 90 (1.6 to 1.1 and 0.6).

Beto and Barry were more proficient in the air than Flemming, but Everton may well try to change their style to incorporate fewer long balls if the Burnley man joins, rather than adapting to one of their strikers' few clear strengths.

What is the latest on Beto or Barry leaving Everton?

Links to several new strikers have persisted throughout the summer, with Everton likely planning a sale if a new man is brought in.

Beto seemed close to leaving last summer, and he is primed to make way soon rather than Everton cashing in on the younger, less proven Barry just a year on from his arrival.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Everton could write off the rest of Beto's contract to let him go for free this summer, with Nottingham Forest believed to be keen on a move.

The 28-year-old's current deal is expiring next summer, and Forest may push for a move after Taiwo Awoniyi left for Coventry.
