Everton duo make future uncertain for club's biggest name
Everton's Tyrique George and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have added uncertainty to Jack Grealish's second spell in Merseyside, sources have told Football Insider.
The Everton loanee had made himself a fan favourite in the 2025-26 season, with the Toffees deciding to bring him back.
Grealish had picked up a foot injury which ruled him out from January until the end of last season.
He has been slowly returning to the pitch over the last couple of months, starting just one Premier League game for Everton so far.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Grealish may now have to wait to get more chances to start for the Hill Dickinson.
As both George and Dewsbury-Hall have become standout players under David Moyes this season.
Can Jack Grealish rediscover his best form at Everton?
Grealish will be looking to get back to the level which saw him reach stardom in L3.
Everton fans had quickly grown fond of him, and clearly Moyes had the same reaction.
If not, then the Scotsman would not have sought to bring him back to Merseyside, but right now he is facing completely different circumstances than he had during 2025-26.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Obviously he’s there on loan. I think David Moyes has just been careful with Grealish because he had that long-term injury in the second half of last season, so he’s maybe working his way back still to full match peak fitness and his sharpness.
"As you said Tyrique George has done quite well so far this season playing down the left, and obviously you’ve got Dewsbury-Hall who’s one of the first names in the team.
"Grealish is going to be required this season; there’s no doubt about that because Everton are a bit light in numbers in the squad.
"Grealish, I think still working his way back to full match fitness after that injury he had last season, and I’m sure he’ll be pretty keen to prove his credentials again."
Grealish has a point to prove before Everton make their decision
The Everton loanee will not only be fighting for his place in the squad, but possibly his future as well.
The Englishman is only on a temporary deal in L3, and at Manchester City, his contract expires at the end of the season.
His performances at Everton may ultimately decide whether the Blues want him to stick around, or perhaps open the door for another team to sign him if not.
Plenty is on the line for Grealish, and that may be what motivates him to get back to his best as quickly as possible.
