Everton have identified Man City's Rico Lewis as a target to bolster their right-back ranks this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

David Moyes is keen to sign a new right-back this summer after playing Jake O'Brien out of position for the majority of the last campaign.

Club legend Seamus Coleman has moved on following the end of the season, while Nathan Patterson could leave amid interest in his services.

Several right-backs have been linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with a new target now on the agenda.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Man City defender Lewis is the latest right-back in their sights amid uncertainty around his future.

The 21-year-old struggled for game time last season and new boss Enzo Maresca may sanction his departure if he pursues a new right-back addition.

Rico Lewis could join Everton as Man City consider financial situation

Lewis came through the Citizens' academy as a youngster and has made 116 first-team appearances to date.

Just 23 of those came last season, as he only managed to make four starts in the Premier League, so an exit seems very possible considering the profit that City could make.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Everton are in the market for a new right-back, so they would both be in the running if he does become available. He's under contract until 2030, so the key for this one might be Man City.

"If they do sell him, obviously he would represent pure profit on the financial side of things, because he is a homegrown player. A lot of it will come down to the player as well, and if he’s not going to be part of Enzo Maresca’s plans. He’s got ambitions himself and wants to be playing regularly."

Which other right-backs are Everton targeting?

Everton's desire to sign a right-back has seen several targets linked to the club as they prioritise an addition in that position.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is open to joining Everton after they registered their interest in his services, but other clubs are in the race to land him this summer.

New reports out of Italy are claiming that the Toffees have approached Atalanta over a move for Raoul Bellanova, with Spurs also believed to be keen.

26-year-old Bellanova made 36 appearances for the club in all competitions last season.
