Everton to go all out for Daniel Munoz after 'hammer blow' - verdict

Daniel Munoz could see an increase interest in his signature from Merseyside as Everton's search for a right-back goes on.

The Toffees have already done significant business with Crystal Palace this summer, swapping Dwight McNeil and Brennan Johnson earlier this week.

Maxence Lacroix has also bid farewell at Selhurst Park, joining Chelsea in a £52million deal, and Munoz could be next should the money be right.

The right-back spot at the Hill Dickinson Stadium has been an area of concern for multiple transfer windows, not just under David Moyes' reign.

With Seamus Coleman gone and Nathan Patterson not trustworthy, Jake O'Brien has often been forced to feature out of position to fill a gap.

Everton's Alistair Johnston move all but over

It is Celtic star Alistair Johnston who appeared set to make the switch, however. That was until his most recent blow in Scotland.

In what is being described as a "hammer blow," the Scottish Sun have reported that the full-back could be sidelined for weeks with a new issue.

Despite being substituted against Kilmarnock as a precaution, it is now believed that the 27-year-old will miss both of the Hoops' upcoming Champions League qualifiers against LASK.

Understandably, this throws doubt over any potential move, but Everton remain desperate to sign a new right-back before the transfer window slams shut.

What's the situation with Daniel Munoz's future?

Munoz has only been at Palace player since January 2024, but it has taken the flying full-back no time at all to win over the fans at Selhurst Park.

He has never made a secret out of his desire to play at the very top level. But at 30 years of age, he is running out of time to do so.

Munoz extended his deal with the Eagles until 2028 last summer, so it might take a hefty fee if Everton are to sign him ahead of 2026-27.

Moyes is quickly running out of time to fill the right-back spot, though, and that is exactly why he needs to go all-out for a Premier League-proven option like Munoz.
