Everton will have to offer Tottenham at least £40million to complete a move for Djed Spence, sources have told Football Insider.

Spence has been an unsung hero of England's World Cup campaign so far, despite uncertainty clouding his future at club level.

He struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at either right or left-back for Tottenham last season, particularly under Roberto De Zerbi.

Everton have emerged as genuine suitors of his services as David Moyes aims to sign a new right-back following Seamus Coleman's exit.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Spurs are set to demand at least £40m from the Toffees to part ways with Spence this summer.

His contract runs for another three years, and Spurs' demands are only set to rise as he impresses on the world stage with England.

Djed Spence price tag set as Everton chase Tottenham move

Spence featured 44 times for Spurs throughout last season, and he has played a part in all six of England's World Cup games so far.

He is keen to impress De Zerbi in pre-season despite several new defensive arrivals, with Everton needing to pay a premium to get a deal over the line.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "If a suitable offer were to come in, then they (Spurs) might look at it and evaluate it. There's been a lot of incoming Spurs this season, so maybe they might have to balance the books in some respects.

"But it would be a pretty hefty fee. You're probably looking at around £40million plus for somebody like Djed Spence, and whether Everton would be willing to go to those sort of figures, I'm not too sure."

Sources: Rangers explore right-back options amid Nathan Patterson 'acceptance' at Ibrox

Rangers eyeing Nathan Patterson amid Everton uncertainty

It is clear that Patterson is not in line for more game time at Everton next season, despite Coleman leaving, as Moyes eyes a new signing in his position.

The Scotland international only made eight appearances across all competitions in 2025-26 behind a recognised centre-back in Jake O'Brien.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Rangers want to re-sign Patterson on loan this summer after he left the Ibrox club for Everton back in 2022.

They are exploring all options in the position as it stands, however, with the 24-year-old's hefty wages potentially set to hinder an approach.
