Sources: Rangers explore right-back options amid Nathan Patterson 'acceptance' at Ibrox
Rangers are currently exploring a variety of options to add to their right-back options this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Glasgow giants have Everton's Nathan Patterson as one of their main targets for the summer window, but there is an acceptance at Ibrox that a deal may be difficult to strike.
The Scotland international is increasingly likely to leave the Merseysiders ahead of next season, but is expected to command a "decent fee," despite being about to enter the final 12 months of his contract.
Patterson's wage demands are creating a hurdle for Rangers to overcome, and as a result, they are also assessing plenty of other options.
A move to bring the 24-year-old back to his boyhood club is not completely off the table, but the club are working to explore other candidates.
Rangers are expecting a busy summer of both incomings and outgoings, as they work to find the players that new boss Derek McInnes wants.
Rangers working to find new starting right-back
The addition of a new right-back is a top priority for Rangers this summer, as they are extremely thin in that area at the moment.
Max Aarons has returned to Bournemouth at the end of his loan spell, while James Tavernier's exit has also left a big hole in the squad.
That has left Dujon Sterling as the only senior right-back at the club, and he also found himself regularly deployed in other roles throughout last season.
As such, a new addition is a must ahead of 2026-27, and Rangers have already identified several potential candidates.
Patterson still has plenty of admirers at Ibrox as he prepares to leave Everton, while there have also been strong links with Westerlo's Bryan Reynolds.
The American notched five goal involvements in the Belgian top flight last term, and Rangers have already seen a bid rejected for him this summer.
Rangers' pursuit of Bryan Reynolds may hinge on Tuur Rommens
Football Insider revealed last week that Tuur Rommens will play a major role in Rangers' attempts to sign Reynolds this summer.
A deal to sign the American is understood to be a "real possibility" at the moment, with the Gers' scouting department well aware of him after also signing Rommens from Westerlo back in January.
The Scottish side now have their eyes on Westerlo's other full-back, and Rommens' relationship with Reynolds is expected to be crucial when it comes to convincing him to make the move.
The Belgian caught the eye with one goal and two assists in the second half of last season, but he could now play a crucial role off the field this summer.
