Everton are planning to hold fresh talks with Manchester City about a possible loan extension for Jack Grealish as they aim to agree new terms.

After what was a strong start to his loan spell at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, an untimely injury in January saw his season ended prematurely after he underwent surgery.

However, he is now back training on the grass as he continues his recovery, and shared photos from Finch Farm despite his Everton contract ending last month.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Everton remain determined to extend Grealish's stay and are now planning to hold fresh talks.

Despite being in no rush to agree a deal, as they are confident of reaching an agreement, and hope to reach an agreement on terms that work for all parties.

There was a £50million option to buy included in his original loan deal, but with Everton never planning to meet that price, they are now keen to extend his temporary stay.

Will Everton make a move for Jack Grealish?

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider in May that Everton are still assessing their summer transfer plans, but Grealish remains a priority.

Despite planning to bolster their squad in other key positions, landing the Man City star on an extended deal has been at the top of David Moyes' wish list.

Talks are now expected to resume in the near future, with the midfielder nearing a return to fitness and Everton keen to get an agreement over the line.

"It seems to have gone a bit quiet around Jack Grealish, but that's not a problem," Brown told Football Insider.

"Everton want to get a deal done and it doesn't look like he has much of a future at Man City, so I'm sure they'll hold talks about a deal in the near future and hopefully reach an agreement.

"He had a strong start to his season at Everton, and the injury was unfortunate, but he looks like he will be ready to return for pre-season.

"That will be a boost for him and for Everton if he can get up to match fitness and then they can agree a deal in time for him to take part in their preparations for the season.

"At the moment, a loan deal is most likely because Everton aren't going to want to pay a big fee for him, if they can get him on more favourable terms it would be ideal.

"Maybe that can include a more reasonable option to buy, and a decent loan fee for Man City, and that could be a deal that works for all parties."

How does Grealish feel about staying at Everton?

With Everton now planning to step up their efforts to keep Grealish at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, a lot will depend on where the midfielder sees his long-term future.

It has become clear that a return to Man City is unlikely to be on the cards, despite the change in manager, leaving Everton as the leading candidates to agree terms.

Wyness told Football Insider in February that Grealish is keen to remain at Everton next season, and is prepared to take a pay cut to push through the move.

He is rumoured to be on as much as £300,000 per week at Man City, which Everton would never be able to match, leading to suggestions a deal could be difficult.

However, with Grealish keen to remain at Everton after a strong start to his seaon on Merseyside, there is a growing feeling he will take a cut to agree terms.
