Ex-Everton employee drops 'enormous' Tyler Dibling claim

Tyler Dibling still has plenty to do to establish himself among David Moyes' favoured options at Everton.

That is the opinion of former senior Everton scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The 20-year-old, who joined the Toffees from Southampton in a deal worth up to £40million last summer, appears to have finally made some headway on Merseyside.

Dibling started against Wolves in the Carabao Cup last week and was exceptional, assisting the winner and showing a glimpse of his huge potential.

Moyes rewarded him by handing him his first Premier League appearance off the bench against Ipswich Town on Saturday, and the winger was unfortunate not to get another assist to his name.

It remains to be seen whether Dibling will continue to be handed opportunities, but this is undoubtedly his most positive period since making the switch to Everton.

After seeing his stats, it is easy to see why Dibling was able to turn Moyes' head with his performance against Wolves.

The winger created two big chances, completed a remarkable seven dribbles and was fouled three times.

The 20-year-old even kept up with his defensive work, making three tackles, five recoveries and winning 13 duels.

"He's got a lot to prove. The only way he's going to improve is if he gets games and plays regularly," King told Football Insider.

"When you're being brought in for that kind of money, the expectations are enormous. Those expectations have now got to be realised because he's getting older.

"He's starting to get regular work with the first team, but, he's still got a lot to prove for me. You've got to look at some of the younger players who are with Premier League sides at the moment.

"We're talking about 16, 17 and 18-year-olds here, which he was when he was at Southampton. And these players are establishing themselves in the respective teams that they're playing for."

What David Moyes has said about Dibling

There had been some suspicion that Moyes had a more personal problem with Dibling, such was the lack of opportunities he gave him last season.

But it appears the Scot was just waiting to see what he knew the youngster was capable of, and that time has finally come.

"I'm smiling when you mention his name now,” Moyes said when asked about Dibling's impact off the bench against Ipswich.

"Prior to that, it might have been one of those emojis which go down [he mimed a frown]. But I've got the opposite ones now, those ones which are clapping and have smiley eyes and so on.”

"I think Tyler Dibling at the moment is just beginning to show us a little bit of what he's got," he added. "I'm saying: ‘This is looking much better than what you showed us last year.’

"Suddenly we're beginning to see somebody who's got a bit more devilment in him, beginning to look as if he's getting closer to it. So let's hope that can continue.”
