Everton need to listen to their fans over ticket price increases, according to former chief executive Keith Wyness.

Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, dropped his verdict as Everton's fan advisory board are to discuss ticket price increases with the club.

Adult tickets at Hill Dickinson Stadium will rise by £45 on average next season, despite calls for a price freeze from the fan advisory board for the next three years.

The price rises from the Toffees are in a bid for the club to generate extra revenue to close the gap on their Premier League rivals.

Since The Friedkin Group took over in 2024, Everton have cleared over £250million in debt, and have plans to significantly strengthen their financial position.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs - believes talking to the fan advisory board is "very important" for the ownership.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness states that the owners need to begin forming relationships with the fanbase for when they need to make important decisions.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It’s very important, and I’ve always been one to put together fan advisory boards, and away fan advisory boards, which at Villa was very effective.

"The away fans really do have different challenges compared to the home fans to a degree, and it’s important to recognise that. On the home fans, the club may decide on a certain policy, but I really believe it’s important to have that dialogue with the fan advisory board.

"There will be tweaks and certain things that may not affect the overall picture, but it will certainly bring up issues that the club may not have been aware of from a fan’s point of view.

"It’s just good business practice to speak to your customers. I hate to talk of fans as customers, but it’s important that you do have that dialogue and understand from their point of view what the experiences that they’re having and what the pricing levels are. You’ll find in my experience, most fans are very sensible.

"They understand the need sometimes for increases, but often it can be tweaked to fit different segments or different issues.

"It is important that they’re seen to be listening and the Friedkins, hopefully with Angus Kinnear, I’m sure he’ll do that. They’ll make some progress and cement relationships, which is very important these days.”

David Moyes targets Premier League midfielder

With plans to push forward as a club, Everton have ambitions to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window.

David Moyes wants to add extra depth to his squad, and he could take advantage of Tottenham's situation at the bottom of the table.

Sources have told Football Insider that Everton are lining up a loan deal for Conor Gallagher, which could include an obligation to buy the midfielder in 2027.

The 26-year-old only joined Spurs in January, but relegation to the Championship would mean they could be open to letting him go to Everton.
