Everton fans are wrong to suggest that the club would be better off if David Moyes was replaced in the dugout.

That is the opinion of former senior Everton scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

Some fans have begun to grow frustrated with the 63-year-old, who was unable to prevent the Toffees' first defeat of the season against Chelsea last week.

Moyes returned in January 2025 and stabilised a relegation-threatened Everton, but there is a feeling that he may well have taken the club as far as they can.

Others will point to the lack of investment behind the Scot, however, with owners The Friedkin Group now open to a sale of the club after a hugely disappointing summer transfer window.

Everton are left with just one recognised striker and insufficient depth in defence, with Moyes often resorting to makeshift options to cover absences.

David Moyes is 'Everton through and through'

Moyes certainly has his frustrating quirks. The likes of Jake O'Brien, Hayden Hackney and Tyler Dibling have impressed with the chances they have got, but still cannot seem to make their way onto the pitch.

The Everton manager is stubborn and wedded to his favourites, which can see certain players neglected unfairly.

"He's done well with bringing in players and selling players on. I think he's done well in getting the club into a position in the Premier League where they have been a solid Premier League club," King told Football Insider.

"I was with David Moyes for seven years, and the way he works and the way he wants his staff to work and certainly the way his players want to work - he's Everton through and through."

"When you look at what Everton have achieved in the last 15 years, it's always been the aim that they're going to stay in the Premier League," he added. "And that's certainly what they've achieved. They've achieved being a decent Premier League club.

"He's came and he's rescued them from a difficult situation, which always seems to happen to Everton. I'm not sure they're going to win anything this year, but I think fans now should be grateful they've got a decent team and they've got a very nice stadium."

Moyes defiant in Everton job

Should a new owner arrive at Everton, they may well want to stamp their authority by hiring a new manager.

But Moyes is keen to stand by his principles and will continue to serve Everton as long as he is wanted.

""It's never going to be easy," he said in September. "You know what happens in these situations, there's only one person who tends to get called out at the end [the manager].

"Everton's different, I wouldn't have come back for anybody but Everton. I think the club here has had enough days when the people find a way of recovering. People saw the face of Evertonians last week [against Bournemouth] and it can be really powerful. I would expect them to be really powerful now.

"But powerful for the team, powerful for the players. What we're going to need from them is extra because we're short. So we need them. If they're not with us, then it's terrible. And they are with us, I believe they are with us."
