Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has reacted after Everton winger Jack Grealish took to social media to share an update on his recovery from injury.

The winger is set to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a fracture in his foot.

The former England international has been on a season-long loan with Everton, who are expected to attempt to sign him permanently in the summer.

Manchester City agreed to enter a £50million option to buy into the deal, but the Toffees will hope to pay a lower fee.

Everton's injuries have been frequent this season, but David Moyes' side remain in with a shot of qualifying for European football.

Grealish's aim when joining Everton was likely to attract the attention of England manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of the World Cup.

The winger certainly did that in his opening weeks at Hill Dickinson Stadium, and could have been in with a shout had he not picked up an injury.

The 30-year-old was starting to look like the player who had dazzled during his time at Aston Villa, enough to convince Man City to spend £100m on him.

Along with Iliman Ndiaye, Grealish created a constant threat out wide for the Toffees, who have looked like a transformed team at times this season.

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness exclusively told Football Insider last month that Everton will sign Grealish for a reduced rate this summer, with Moyes keen to see that development continue.

Unfortunately, however, the Englishman's chances of making it to the World Cup have been squandered by injury.

He remains in good spirits, though, and took to Instagram on Sunday to provide an update on his recovery.

"Four weeks post op and working hard to be back better and stronger than ever," he wrote. Rice, who will go to the World Cup, liked the post.
