'It's transformational' - Stefan Borson: Everton have 'key selling feature' to aid £1bn takeover
The Friedkin Group (TFG) should be confident of reaching a £1billion figure for the sale of Everton in the not-too-distant future.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium has brought with it a "transformational" revenue.
Supporters continue to debate over a move away from Goodison Park was best for the Toffees, but it objectively is having positive impacts behind the scenes.
According to Alan Myers, the change of stadiums has seen the revenue increase by £35million, which in turn, could help the owners to cash in.
TFG are looking to secure an exit from Merseyside after just 21 months in charge, though no concrete options have come forward as a replacement.
Amanda Staveley, formerly of Newcastle United, has been named by many, but the £1bn valuation could put a lot of potential buyers off.
Hill Dickinson Stadium is 'key' to Everton sale
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson states that the "transformational" addition in revenue is a "key selling feature".
"I'm not sure it's as much as £35m, but even if it is £35m, you have to also remember there's quite a considerable increase in cost that goes with that new stadium," he said.
"It's transformational to the club, though, so nobody should shy away from that. It's also transformational to the equity story around why you would buy the club.
"They've got this very polished beautiful new stadium, and it's a key selling feature for the club. It also gives buyers a potential opportunity in the vicinity of the stadium.
"So if you were to have a certain buyer who wanted to look at supplementing the football side of things with, let's say, property investment around and another kind of commercial development around the stadium...
"...Using that as a platform in the way that it's been done in a number of other clubs, you would think that that's a really good selling point for Everton."
David Moyes' future comes to the forefront
With so much conversation around the owners, David Moyes' future, unsurprisingly, is now a major talking point at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Mick Brown has told Football Insider that any new owners would get rid of Moyes for a new-and-improved figure in the dugout.
Were Staveley to come aboard, Eddie Howe would be top of her list, or at least Borson believes, but Moyes wouldn't be out of work for very long.
It is believed that the Scot would "jump" at the chance to manage Celtic, and Martin O'Neill is under huge pressure at Parkhead this season.
