Stefan Borson drops Everton takeover verdict and expected timeline for deal completion

The Friedkin Group may already be in talks with Everton's next owners, but a takeover could still take upwards of six months.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that TFG do have a chance of selling relatively soon.

Supporters at the Hill Dickinson Stadium have been left stunned by the American owners' decision to sell after just 21 months in charge.

Following a frustrating summer transfer window on Merseyside, TFG put out a request for further investment, and even that triggered alarm bells of a premature sale.

The Friedkins have now officially put the five-time FA Cup winners up for sale, a decision that has certainly split the fans' feelings about the owners.

Rumours are already beginning to spread about who could become the next owners, with Borson suggesting Amanda Staveley as a good successor.

TFG possibly already in Everton takeover talks

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has suggested that any talks over a minority sale since the summer may have turned into a full sale.

"All these processes from start to finish take, maybe three to six months. So yes [it is a long process], in that respect," he said.

"It just depends whether they've had... Is there somebody that they're already talking to that's been looking, maybe at taking a minority?

"And now they say, 'Well, actually, we've decided we'll sell the whole lot. Fancy buying the whole lot?' It's possible.

"The size of the cheque is pretty significant. Maybe they are already in talks with somebody, someone that's got an interest. And if they have, then they've got a chance of getting it sold."

Amanda Staveley told how much Everton takeover will cost after full sale bombshell

How much is an Everton takeover likely to cost?

TFG ended Farhad Moshiri's reign of terror on Merseyside in a deal worth in excess of £400million, since helping with a lot of the club's debt.

Still, the American owners stand a very good chance of making profit on the sale of the Toffees, whoever decides to come in after them.

When speaking about the potential for Staveley to invest, Borson explained that her consortium may have to spend upwards of £1billion to complete a takeover.

The 53-year-old has been heavily linked with a return to football, failing in deals for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, and Everton could be her next attempt.
