Jarrod Bowen to Everton 'edging closer' as West Ham powerless to stop transfer

Jarrod Bowen could be set to reunite with David Moyes at Everton this summer as he weighs up his options after West Ham's relegation.

Bowen has been a standout for West Ham for several years, but was unable to stop them from dropping into the Championship ahead of next season.

The 29-year-old's future at the London Stadium is in doubt as several Premier League clubs keep tabs on his availability.

Everton boss Moyes has been rumoured to want to reunite with the Hammers captain, after they worked together for numerous seasons in the capital.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Everton will fancy their chances of a deal as Bowen is unlikely to want to play in the second tier next season.

He has reached double figures for Premier League goals in three of his last five campaigns for the Hammers.

The Toffees are not the only club keen on a move for Bowen, but could hold an advantage in talks due to his pre-existing relationship with Moyes.

Sources have exclusively told Football Insider that Everton have made an initial move to sign Bowen, with the summer window now open.

Moyes wants to add to his attacking options ahead of next season, particularly in wide areas, with Jack Grealish and Tyrique George due to head back to their respective parent clubs.

Bowen would represent a shrewd addition to his ranks, with the Hammers almost resigned to an exit due to their second-tier status.

“It (joining Everton) could happen now that he's gone down. I didn't think there was any chance of him leaving there if they stayed up. Now they've gone down, I think it's his allegiances keeping him at West Ham," Brown exclusively told Football Insider.

“He seems to be all into his brotherhood thing, but now that they are playing in the Championship, stopping him from moving back into the Premier League and joining a club like Everton will be a big challenge for West Ham.”

What has Bowen said about Moyes ahead of possible reunion?

Moyes signed Bowen for West Ham in 2020 and allowed him thrive in his side for numerous seasons before leaving the club in 2024.

The 29-year-old has made his admiration for the Scot clear, with previous quotes from when he was set to depart the Hammers arising now that the pair are linked with a reunion.

Speaking about Moyes in 2024, he said: "I always go back to the time where he brought me into the club, and having the faith to bring me in from the Championship, as players in that league were sometimes frowned upon.

"Since I’ve been here and worked with him over the last four and a half years, we’ve had some great games, great memories and came away with a European trophy as well. His door is always open for any player, and I think that is one of the best things about him.

"He’s not just a football manager, but a person as well, and is one of the best people I have worked with. I’ve spoken with him already on a one-to-one level to thank him for everything he’s done for me as I wanted him to know how appreciative I am of him and how I always will be for the rest of my career.”
