David Moyes has seen his odds to become the next Scotland manager tumble after the resignation of Steve Clarke.

The Everton boss has been heavily linked to the role after the Tartan Army were booted out of the 2026 World Cup in the group stages.

Despite a glittering managerial career, the Glasgow-born coach has never taken charge of his country.

However, this could be about to change, with one UK bookmaker now slashing the odds of Moyes taking over at Scotland down to 4/1.

The 63-year-old has been a hit at the Hill Dickinson Stadium since his return to the Toffees in 2025.

Last season, he almost guided the club to Europe, with their poor end-of-season form ensuring that they just missed out.

Could Scotland tempt David Moyes to take the job?

In modern football, it may seem unlikely that Moyes would ditch a Premier League gig to be Scotland manager. However, it may prove to be a tempting offer for the Scotsman.

In less than two years, Scotland will be hosting Euro 2028 alongside England, Wales and the Republic of Ireland.

The opportunity to lead your country through this historic tournament could be highly tempting for Moyes.

On top of this, Moyes is set to turn 64 years old next season, and this could be his last chance to manage his country.

Therefore, if Scotland wants to speak to the Everton boss about the job, he might find it extremely difficult to turn down.

Who else is linked to the Scotland job?

The current favourite to take over at Scotland is Ange Postecoglou at 7/4.

The former Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur manager has been out of work for almost a year after his sacking at Nottingham Forest and could now return to Scotland as their national team manager.

Current Falkirk boss John McGlynn also remains in the mix at 5/1 after a highly impressive season in the Scottish Premiership where he guided his club to a top half finish.

Alex Neil is also in the race at 6/1, while Steven Naismith is an outsider at 7/1.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen who Scotland opt to bring in over the coming months as they prepare to host Euro 2028.
