Sources: Adam Aznou jets out to complete Everton transfer after agreement

Everton defender Adam Aznou has jetted out to Spain to finalise a loan move to Malaga, sources have told Football Insider.

The 20-year-old is way down the pecking order under David Moyes and a deal has been agreed for him to leave the club just one year after his arrival from Bayern Munich.

Since making the move to Everton last summer, Aznou has made just two senior appearances and played just 42 minutes across all competitions.

The left-back was an unused substitute for most of last season as Vitaliy Mykolenko remains the first choice in his position, while he has failed to impress Moyes in training.

As a result, he has been keen to complete a move away, and a move back to the country of his birth with Malaga is seen as the ideal next step in his stalling career.

Aznou is under contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium until 2029, having penned a long-term deal last year, but is now expected to complete a move away.

Why are Everton letting Adam Aznou leave?

Football Insider reported back in May that Aznou is likely to leave Everton this summer, despite the excitement surrounding his arrival from Bayern Munich last year.

Everton forked out £8million to bring the left-back to Merseyside, but after an injury-hit start to his time in England, he failed to establish himself under Moyes.

Malaga, meanwhile, secured promotion back to La Liga last season and have been aiming to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the top flight.

Aznou has been targeted to improve their defensive options, and spending the season playing regularly at a high level could be the ideal move for both the player and Everton.

The Toffees still have high hopes for his long-term development and hope he will prove himself in Spain, with a season-long loan move seen as a great opportunity.

Which other stars could leave Everton this summer?

Everton are bracing for a busy end to the summer transfer window, with players expected both in and out of the club before the deadline on 1 September.

Iliman Ndiaye is the most high-profile name being linked with a move away, after Tottenham agreed a £60million deal to land the Senegal international.

Football Insider revealed on 31 August that Everton are being forced to sell Ndiaye, as they struggle to shift fringe players from their wage bill ahead of deadline day.

The Toffees have been keen to cash in on Tim Iroegbunam, Carlos Alcaraz and Nathan Patterson this summer, but have so far failed to attract any serious offers.

Beto had also been among that group, but is now finalising a move to Serie A club Fiorentina, with Everton letting big names leave before the transfer deadline arrives.
