Abdul Fatawu is widely expected to leave Leicester City this summer with a number of clubs including Everton being linked with a move.

Multiple Premier League clubs have been long-term admirers of the 22-year-old since his time in the top flight, and have been keeping tabs on his situation.

However, Premier League clubs are unlikely to take a gamble on securing his services, with the likes of Everton seemingly backing away from their initial interest.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Fatawu will leave Leicester rather than play in League One, but his suitors are having second thoughts.

Having played a part in two relegation campaigns with the Foxes, questions have been raised about the winger's displays, and Everton could alter their transfer plans.

Could Everton make a move to sign Abdul Fatawu?

Football Insider revealed last month that Everton are plotting a move for Fatawu and are among a number of clubs keen to take advantage of his situation.

The Ghana international is keen to jump ship following Leicester's surprise relegation, placing a number of clubs on alert over his situation.

However, while the opportunity to agree terms is set to be tempting, there are a number of concerns about his performances in the Championship.

"I'm sure Premier League clubs are looking at Fatawu," Brown told Football Insider.

"He had a bit of a reputation when Leicester were in the Premier League before, so if he's going to be available, there are a few clubs who will be made aware.

"But you have to look at what he's done in the past two years when he's been involved in back-to-back relegations, what sort of impact has he had?

"When teams are struggling, you're looking at standout players who will step up and make a difference, that's how you know they can make a step up.

"He hasn't done that for Leicester even in the Championship, so there's not going to be much to convince these clubs that he can do it in the Premier League.

"Everton, for example, what is there to show that Fatawu could go into Moyes' team at the moment and make them better than they are now?

"I think a lot of the clubs who have been interested in him will be having second thoughts, even if it seems inevitable he will leave Leicester one way or another."

Who else is interested in signing Fatawu?

Everton are not the only Premier League club who have been watching Fatawu this season, with a number of clubs keeping tabs on his potential availability.

After it became clear that Leicester were unlikely to challenge for promotion, a number of clubs were placed on alert, and their eventual relegation will come as another boost.

Football Insider previously revealed that Sunderland considered a move for Fatawu during the January transfer window, although they could not reach an agreement.

However, their interest is believed to have lingered as they aim to bolster Regis Le Bris' squad after a strong first season back in the Premier League.

Sunderland could now rival Everton and a number of clubs on the continent for the winger, if they are willing to take the gamble are a terrible season for him.
