Everton fans baffled by Liam Delap's price tag after new 'update'
Everton fans have told the club to move on from Liam Delap after reports emerged that Chelsea want £40million to part with the striker.
The Toffees have been on the hunt for a new man to lead their frontline all summer and have been interested in a move for the 23-year-old.
Delap had a tough first season at Chelsea and only netted once in the Premier League.
Therefore, when reports emerged that the Blues intend to make a £10m profit on the flop, Everton fans were not pleased.
The price quoted would be a record fee for a striker at the Toffees, beating the £35m they paid for Richarlison 2018.
In fact, if the club were to match Chelsea’s asking price, it would only be £5m short of Everton’s record transfer, still held by Gylfi Sigurosson.

Despite Delap’s terrible 2025-26 campaign, it is clear that many clubs feel that they can return the attacker to form.
The striker was previously excellent at Ipswich Town, where he netted 12 Premier League goals as they were relegated in the 2024-25 campaign.
However, after the Liverpool Echo reported on Chelsea’s price tag, many Everton fans have simply urged the club to move on to other targets this summer transfer window.
Who else are Everton looking to sign this summer?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Everton are looking to sign Celtic’s Alistair Johnston this summer.
The right-back spent much of the 2025-26 campaign out injured for the Hoops, but managed to impress in the 2026 World Cup with Canada as the co-hosts reached the round of 16.
As a result, David Moyes is eyeing the defender to help fix their right-back issues, with Johnston open to the move.
Widespread reports have claimed that Everton are preparing to make a bid for his services, with Moyes informing Martin O’Neill of the interest.
However, the Toffees will have to compete with Fulham, who have also emerged as contenders for his signature in recent days.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen who Everton will look to bring into the club over the coming weeks as the transfer window nears its conclusion.
