Everton have been linked with Alexander Sorloth this summer transfer window, but his performance against Iraq was a huge warning sign for the club.

The striker was part of the Norwegian team that beat Iraq 4-1 on Wednesday as they overcame the Middle Eastern side with ease.

However, despite the victory, not everyone performed, and Sorloth was a clear weak link.

The 30-year-old Atletico Madrid attacker had little impact up top, and any Everton officials watching on would no doubt be concerned.

Sorloth has two years left on his contract in the Spanish capital and is heavily linked with an exit this summer.

This is despite the striker netting 13 La Liga goals in the 2025-26 campaign.

Alexander Sorloth makes no impact vs Iraq

Playing on the right side of Norway’s attack, Sorloth struggled throughout against Iraq.

Despite the Scandinavian nation’s dominance up top, he was unable to get a goal or an assist in a big victory.

As a result, he was hooked off the pitch after 73 minutes, which was a worrying sign for any Everton fans.

The striker was unable to get a shot on goal, he created just one chance, failed to complete any of his three attempted dribbles and won 13 per cent of his ground duels.

Therefore, Everton have been handed a massive warning not to sign Sorloth, as there are few signs that he will be able to fix their ongoing troubles up top.

Which other strikers could Everton sign?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Everton are exploring the option of signing Juventus striker Lois Openda on loan with the option to buy.

The Italian giants are desperate to offload the Belgian, and it is understood that the Toffees have the money to make a deal happen this summer.

The 26-year-old heavily struggled at Juventus this season, and only netted one Serie A goal in 24 matches.

However, David Moyes will be hoping that he can reignite the form he once had at RB Leipzig that saw him become one of the promising attackers around.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen who Everton will target this summer as they look to fix their attacking issues.
