Everton set sights on Zian Flemming, 'offers' expected

Burnley are “expecting offers” for Everton target Zian Flemming in the final stages of the window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Toffees are among several clubs who are keeping tabs on the Dutchman with a view to making a move, and that is set to play into Burnley’s hands when it comes to the fee.

The Clarets intend to hike up their asking price for the 28-year-old, with several clubs coming forward as potential suitors. 

Everton are still in the market for attacking reinforcements ahead of the 1 September deadline, while sources say that Lille hold a “very strong” interest in the player.

Burnley are reluctant to lose Flemming, but are aware that it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to keep him as interest continues to grow.

The former Millwall man impressed for the Lancashire outfit last term, as he struck 11 league goals from just 21 starts despite his team’s relegation.

Everton want to bolster frontline with Zian Flemming

Everton have been keen to strengthen their frontline since the start of the summer, but they are yet to land the striker reinforcement that they have been planning.

David Moyes wants to add further support for the duo of Beto and Thierno Barry at the top of the pitch, and the recruitment team have already considered several different options.

Flemming is the latest man to emerge on the Merseysiders’ radar, after a promising debut campaign at Premier League level last term. 

Everton are weighing up a potential move for him ahead of the deadline, but they are running out of time to get their business finalised.

With Nottingham Forest rapidly closing in on the signing of Chelsea’s Liam Delap, the Toffees are also seeing their list of striker targets dwindle. 

They will have to move quickly if they want to secure Flemming’s signature, with Burnley expecting clubs to come to the table with offers in the coming days.

Everton scouts watching Marcus Tavernier

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider earlier this week that Everton have had scouts watching Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier on several occasions within the last 12 months. 

The Toffees are big admirers of the 27-year-old, who notched seven goals and four assists in the Premier League last term. 

Bournemouth have no intention of selling their star man ahead of next week’s deadline, but Everton are expected to continue their pursuit of him in the January window. 

Tavernier is a player who is of major interest to Moyes and Co., and it is a chase that they are likely to revisit when they get the chance in future.
