Douglas Luiz is open to the idea of joining Everton this summer, as he has no long-term future at Juventus, sources have told Football Insider.

The Toffees are showing an interest in signing the midfielder, with Juventus currently “sounding out” clubs across Europe in a bid to offload him ahead of next season.

The 28-year-old remains under contract in Turin until the summer of 2029, but the Italian giants are “open to offers” for him this summer as they aim to recoup some cash.

Sources say that Luiz would be keen on a move back to the Premier League, having previously starred for Aston Villa before moving to Serie A.

Everton are emerging as a potential suitor for the Brazilian, with David Moyes keen to bolster his options in the middle of the park.

Luiz split last season between loan spells at both Nottingham Forest and Villa, making a combined 21 appearances in the Premier League.

Douglas Luiz lined up to fill midfield gap

Everton are still working to add depth in the middle of the park this summer, despite already sealing the signing of Middlesbrough’s captain Hayden Hackney

James Garner, Tim Iroegbunam, Merlin Rohl and promising youngster Harrison Armstrong currently make up the rest of their options to play at the base of the midfield, with Idrissa Gueye looking increasingly likely to depart.

The veteran is out of contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and looks unlikely to sign a new deal, with other clubs free to make offers to him.

Moyes wants to add at least one more player to that group of five, to ensure that his squad are well-equipped to deal with the rigours of a Premier League campaign, especially since Iroegbunam and Armstrong have both been linked with exits of late.

Luiz has proven his quality before in the Premier League, and is looking to bounce back after a pair of difficult loan spells last term.

Both he and Juventus are looking to find a solution for him ahead of 2026-27 getting underway, and a move to Merseyside could yet become a reality.

Everton told £40m Djed Spence offer will be accepted

Everton chasing £40m Djed Spence deal

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Everton will need at least £40million to tempt Tottenham into selling right-back Djed Spence this summer.

The England international is under contract in North London until the summer of 2029, and the Lilywhites have little intention of losing him this summer.

Everton have earmarked Spence as a key target to strengthen their hand at right-back, but they will have to seriously sweeten a deal for Spurs to entertain a sale.

Arsenal’s Ben White is another option who is on their radar at the moment, with the full-back areas a key priority in the coming weeks.
