Sources: Everton set sights on Teun Koopmeiners ahead of January
Everton are still keeping tabs on Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners after being heavily linked with him in the summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Dutchman has struggled to make an impact at Juventus, who are understood to be ready to move him on in January if the chance arises.
The 28-year-old is also open to a move away from the Old Lady, having played just 131 minutes of Serie A football so far this term.
Sources say that Everton are still tracking Koopmeiners, and are keen to bolster their squad with high-quality reinforcements this winter.
However, it is understood that the midfield is not an area of "big priority" for David Moyes and Co., as they already have several options in the middle of the park.
James Garner, Harrison Armstrong and Hayden Hackney have all impressed at the start of the season, while Christian Norgaard is also nearing a return from injury.
Everton still not giving up on Teun Koopmeiners
Koopmeiners is a name who has been linked with Everton consistently in recent years, and he still remains firmly on their radar.
Juventus splashed out £46million to sign him from Atalanta back in 2024, but it simply hasn't worked out for him at all since his move to Turin.
The former AZ Alkmaar man has never truly established himself as a regular starter for Juventus, and is likely to be on the move in January as a result.
Koopmeiners' vast experience appeals to the Toffees, as he now has over 160 Serie A appearances, alongside 24 games in the Champions League throughout his career.
He has become a bit-part player at Juventus of late, but in his final season with Atalanta in 2023-24, he even notched 22 goal involvements in all competitions from the centre of midfield.
Juventus are prepared to move him out the door either permanently or on loan this winter, which could play straight into Everton's hands if they decide to act on their interest.
Everton still in contact for Folarin Balogun
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on Tuesday that Everton returning to sign Monaco striker Folarin Balogun in January "shouldn't be ruled out."
The USA international failed a medical with the Toffees on deadline day in the summer, but Brown is adamant that the club are still in contact with the player's camp.
The ex-recruitment man believes that Everton are still willing to "sit down and iron out a deal," and is clear that the move could still be on this winter.
Balogun's failed move to Merseyside has left Moyes' side with just one senior striker, and it is a top priority for them to rectify that situation in January.
