Sources: Everton waiting on new addition to 'open door' for Carlos Alcaraz exit
Everton won't consider selling attacking midfielder Carlos Alcaraz unless they can secure a replacement in January, sources have told Football Insider.
The Argentine is out of contract on Merseyside next summer and has emerged as a transfer target for Fenerbahce in recent days.
David Moyes needs the 23-year-old to provide depth for his squad at the moment, even though Alcaraz has played just five minutes of Premier League football so far this season.
However, sources say that Everton may "open the door" for Alcaraz to leave if they can secure a reinforcement in his position.
Fenerbahce are keen to offer the youngster a route out of Merseyside, while Everton are aware that it could be their final chance to cash in on him.
The Toffees are reluctant to see Alcaraz leave on a free transfer next summer, but they do not have enough cover at the moment.
Carlos Alcaraz blocked at Everton
Everton paid £13million to sign Alcaraz back in 2025, after a successful loan spell from Flamengo, but he has failed to hit the heights expected of him since then.
The starlet was plagued by injuries in the early stages of last season, and ultimately made just six starts across the entire Premier League campaign, despite leading the team in the sprints per 90 metric.
Alcaraz's lack of football has continued this term, as he has predominantly been an unused substitute, making just two league appearances so far.
The former Southampton man has had his route to the starting XI blocked by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, whose excellent form in the last 12 months has often prevented him from playing in his preferred position.
Alcaraz remains firmly down the pecking order for Moyes at the moment, but the trigger cannot be pulled for his exit just yet.
Insider reveals when Jordan Pickford may leave
Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider last week that Jordan Pickford may remain as the club's number one goalkeeper for another six years.
The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent days, but Wyness does not believe that would be the right for him at this stage of his career.
The former boardroom man suggested that the 32-year-old's young family are settled on Merseyside, and also added that it would "suit" the club perfectly if he stayed put.
Pickford remains one of the Premier League's leading goalkeepers, and has saved Everton on countless occasions in recent years.
